About Maats

Engineering

The current line of MAATS hydraulic and internal bending machines are a showcase of the in-house engineering skills of Maats.

Another illustration of engineering excellence is the MAATS RL24 pipelayer. A machine that has now been replaced by the MAATS RL26. Liebherr’s proven technology is used in this model’s powertrain, electronics, and operator environment. Structurally, the machine has been extensively re-engineered to meet the highest requirements of Maats. Maats is still running RL24 pipelayers in the rental fleet. On request it is still possible to manufacture RL24 units when a solid core machine – the LIEBHERR PR714 or equivalent JOHN DEERE 700J – can be sourced.

The introduction of the new LIEBHERR PR716LGP bulldozer – which acts as a base machine for the MAATS RL26 – inspired the Maats engineers to initiate development on a multimachine and a pipecarrier unit. Although in the very early stage of conception there is potential in these models on a global scale. These units would meet the latest emission and safety standards and would be manufactured in-house by Maats.

Customizing

Modifying existing base machines into specialized products is one of Maats’ core skills. Examples include the MAATS WR624 mobile winch, built on a LIEBHERR track loader for stabilizing drilling equipment in oil fields, and conveyor belt shifters engineered from LIEBHERR pipelayers to handle the unique stresses of repositioning belts without damage. Beyond customizing entire machines, Maats also re-engineers attachments, such as adapting padders to fit pipelayers.

Support Services

In addition, Maats provides comprehensive on-site training programmes to ensure your teams operate with confidence and efficiency. We also undertake commissioning and de-commissioning services, supporting you throughout the full lifecycle of the equipment. Furthermore, our team can assist with the organisation of transport and insurance, giving you peace of mind at every stage. These services are available for both rental and sale of our machinery.

Frequently asked questions

Customising means adapting machines to meet your project’s specific requirements, including capacity, terrain, safety, environment and international regulations.

They are primarily suitable for onshore pipeline construction, including oil, gas, and water and any other pipelines worldwide.

Modifications include engine power, hydraulics, transport capacity / dimensions, monitoring systems, safety features, and environmentally friendly options.

Yes. Machines can comply with ISO, CE, API, and project-specific local regulations when communicated timely. (Any approvals such as Dosh, UDT, etc. are to be arranged by our customers).

Depending on complexity, customization typically takes from a few days to a few months. Exact timelines are provided per project and per machine.

Absolutely. We can assist our customers in handling transportation and shipping, customs, and documentation, ensuring machines are ready for worldwide projects.

We can offer operator training, commissioning and de-commissioning, preventive maintenance, supply of spare parts, and technical support during projects. All depending on our customers’ demands.

Yes. We provide e.g. eco-friendly drives, low-emission units, and circular material solutions whenever possible.
