The LIEBHERR RL44 Winch Tractor is a modified variant of the RL44 Litronic pipelayer, adapted for use with a lateral winch system in combination with the existing counterweight setup. It is powered by the robust Liebherr D936 L A6 diesel engine, compliant with EU Stage IIIA and EPA/CARB Tier 3 emission standards (97/68/EC, 2004/26/EC), ensuring dependable power and efficiency for heavy-duty pipeline operations.
The standard configuration includes a hydrostatic cooling fan drive, low ground pressure setup, hydraulic winch system with free-fall function, and an enclosed operator’s cab with integrated ROPS protection. Track shoes are available in 914 mm or 711 mm widths for optimal traction on varying surfaces. Optional equipment includes a low-temperature operation kit, enabling reliable performance in extreme cold environments.
The winch tractor configuration can be applied to multiple Liebherr RL models — including the RL44, RL54, RL56, RL64 and RL66 — depending on the required pulling or lifting capacity, making it a flexible and powerful solution for pipeline support and recovery work.
